Econet Wireless Zimbabwe is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to join our dynamic IT team in Marondera. As a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping our cloud strategy and ensuring the operational integrity of our digital services. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our cloud infrastructure, from initial provisioning and configuration to continuous monitoring, optimization, and disaster recovery. This includes designing highly resilient and fault-tolerant systems, implementing robust security controls, and automating routine tasks to enhance efficiency. You will also be a key player in incident response, leading efforts to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues swiftly to minimize service disruption. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Monitor cloud platform performance, availability, and security using advanced monitoring and alerting tools.
- Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline operational processes, deployments, and incident response.
- Lead incident management and problem resolution for cloud infrastructure issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure applications are designed for cloud-native deployment and operational efficiency.
- Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, compliance standards, and data protection policies.
- Manage cloud resources, optimize costs, and forecast capacity requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical cloud services.
- Document cloud configurations, operational procedures, and architectural decisions.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of our cloud operations capabilities.
Required Skills
- Minimum 6 years of experience in cloud operations, DevOps, or SRE roles.
- Proven expertise with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including certifications.
- Strong proficiency in infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Advanced scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Proficiency in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Multiple professional-level cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Experience with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
- Familiarity with database administration in cloud environments (e.g., RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
- Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and practices.
