Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Support Specialist to join our dynamic IT team at the Blanket Mine in Filabusi. This critical role involves overseeing the maintenance, optimization, and support of our core IT infrastructure and end-user systems, ensuring seamless operations across all departments. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network administration, server management, cybersecurity best practices, and enterprise application support within an industrial environment. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex technical issues, implementing robust solutions, and proactively identifying areas for system improvement and risk mitigation. This position requires a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills, capable of providing leadership and mentorship to junior IT staff. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and availability of our systems, directly contributing to the operational efficiency and productivity of the Blanket Mine. Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support for all IT systems, including hardware, software, network infrastructure, and telecommunications.
- Manage and maintain server infrastructure (Windows Server, Linux), virtualization platforms, and storage solutions.
- Oversee network administration, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and firewall management.
- Implement and enforce cybersecurity measures, including patch management, antivirus, intrusion detection, and data backup/recovery strategies.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, often requiring in-depth analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Lead IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems, processes, and procedures.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior IT support staff and end-users.
- Monitor system performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and recommend optimization strategies.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers for specialized support and procurement.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support for critical incidents outside of regular business hours.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration and support.
- Proven expertise in Windows Server environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP).
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, routing, switching, and firewall configuration.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Demonstrated experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, CompTIA Security+, ITIL.
- Experience with Linux server administration.
- Familiarity with industrial control systems (ICS) or SCADA environments.
- Project management experience in an IT context.
- Experience working in the mining or heavy industrial sectors.
