Your daily tasks will involve diagnosing mechanical faults, performing routine preventative maintenance, and carrying out essential repairs on a wide array of industrial equipment, including conveyors, mills, mixers, packaging machines, and various hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on all mechanical equipment and machinery within the facility.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and defects, troubleshoot equipment issues, and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Execute repairs on various systems including hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and packaging machinery.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings to facilitate maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with electrical technicians and production teams to ensure seamless operations and minimal downtime.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify potential issues and recommend proactive maintenance strategies.

Required Skills

  • National Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fitter and Turner, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex mechanical faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Solid knowledge of industrial safety standards and practices (e.g., LOTO procedures).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and automated production lines.
  • Prior experience in the food manufacturing or FMCG industry.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
