Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Relations Officer to join our dynamic team at Freda Rebecca Gold Mine. This pivotal role will be responsible for enhancing our company’s reputation, building strong relationships with stakeholders, and effectively communicating our mission, values, and achievements to the public. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, capable of managing media relations, community engagement, and internal communications with professionalism and impact. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies and campaigns.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local communities, government officials, NGOs, and industry partners.
  • Oversee internal communications to ensure employees are informed and engaged with company news and initiatives.
  • Plan and execute corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and community engagement programs.
  • Monitor media coverage, analyze public opinion, and report on PR effectiveness.
  • Act as a company spokesperson when required, ensuring consistent messaging.
  • Prepare communication materials such as speeches, presentations, newsletters, and website content.
  • Manage and mitigate reputation risks through effective crisis communication strategies.
  • Organize and manage public events, conferences, and site visits.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven experience in media relations and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a public relations role, preferably within the mining, industrial, or heavy industry sectors.
  • Familiarity with the socio-economic and political landscape of Zimbabwe and specifically Mashonaland Central Province.
  • Fluency in Shona or other local languages.
  • Experience with digital PR and social media management tools.
  • Professional certifications in Public Relations (e.g., APR).
