Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and ensure compliance.
  • Research technical accounting issues for proper application and compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Prepare budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit conclusions.

Required Skills

  • Proven working experience as an Accountant or in a relevant financial role for at least 4 years.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (IFRS/GAAP).
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills (e.g., Pastel, QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
  • Accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with a regional or international professional services firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of Botswana's tax laws and financial regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
