Key Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and revenue recognition.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and ensure compliance.
- Research technical accounting issues for proper application and compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Prepare budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit conclusions.
Required Skills
- Proven working experience as an Accountant or in a relevant financial role for at least 4 years.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (IFRS/GAAP).
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills (e.g., Pastel, QuickBooks, SAP).
- Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Experience with a regional or international professional services firm.
- In-depth knowledge of Botswana's tax laws and financial regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
