Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using various databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) to support case preparation and legal arguments.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to court rules.
  • Organize and maintain extensive case files, evidence, and documents, both physical and electronic, ensuring easy accessibility and compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation for trials, hearings, and arbitrations, including compiling exhibit binders, witness lists, and trial materials.
  • Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and other discovery materials to highlight key information for legal teams.
  • Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and external agencies to gather information and schedule appointments.
  • Support attorneys in all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment through to post-judgment procedures.
  • Monitor and manage case deadlines, ensuring all submissions are timely and compliant with court requirements.
  • Participate in client meetings and interviews, taking detailed notes and assisting with follow-up actions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, specifically in litigation or court preparation.
  • Strong legal research skills with proficiency in legal databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • A solid understanding of court rules, procedures, and legal terminology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal Certificate or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Criminology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase).
  • Experience with electronic filing systems.
