In this pivotal role, you will be the linchpin between the captured footage and the post-production workflow, ensuring the highest quality, integrity, and security of all digital assets from set to archive. Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain the DIT station on set, including monitors, scopes, and data management systems.
- Perform rigorous quality control checks on all acquired footage for focus, exposure, framing, and technical anomalies.
- Manage and secure data from camera cards, ensuring multiple verified backups and checksum verification.
- Develop and apply Look Up Tables (LUTs) on set, collaborating with the Cinematographer to establish a consistent color pipeline.
- Optimize camera settings and workflows to achieve desired aesthetic and technical outcomes.
- Troubleshoot camera, monitoring, and data management system issues promptly and effectively.
- Generate and distribute accurate camera reports, data logs, and sound sync information.
- Prepare footage for editorial and post-production by creating dailies and transcoded proxies.
- Ensure strict adherence to data security protocols and best practices throughout the production cycle.
- Liaise with the production team, editorial, and post-production departments to ensure smooth data handover.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) or similar role.
- Expert-level proficiency with industry-standard DIT software (e.g., Pomfort Silverstack, ShotPut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Assimilate Scratch).
- Comprehensive knowledge of digital cinema cameras (e.g., ARRI, RED, Sony, Blackmagic Design) and their technical specifications.
- Deep understanding of video codecs, file formats, and color spaces (e.g., Rec.709, P3, ACES).
- Strong color theory and color grading fundamentals.
- Exceptional data management and data security practices.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with crew members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Film Production, Cinematography, Media Arts, or a related field.
- Experience with LTO archiving solutions.
- Familiarity with network attached storage (NAS) and server environments.
