Job Description

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Learning & Development Manager to join our team in Nepean, Ottawa. This pivotal role offers flexible hours, allowing for a work-life balance while making a significant impact on our organizational growth and employee success. As the Learning & Development Manager, you will be responsible for strategically designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive learning programs that align with Career.zycto’s business objectives and foster a culture of continuous improvement across all departments.

Your primary focus will be on identifying training needs through close collaboration with department heads and employees, crafting engaging content, and facilitating effective learning experiences. This includes leadership development, soft skills training, technical proficiencies, and compliance education. You will leverage various learning methodologies, including instructor-led training, e-learning modules, workshops, and blended learning solutions, ensuring accessibility and engagement for a diverse workforce. Managing our Learning Management System (LMS) will also be a key responsibility, overseeing content curation, user administration, and performance tracking.

Beyond program design, you will evaluate the effectiveness of all training initiatives through rigorous metrics and feedback mechanisms, reporting on key performance indicators and making data-driven recommendations for continuous enhancement. You will champion a proactive approach to skill development, anticipating future organizational needs and integrating cutting-edge learning technologies and best practices into our framework. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive learning strategies and programs aligned with organizational goals and talent development needs.
  • Conduct thorough training needs assessments through surveys, interviews, and collaboration with stakeholders to identify skill gaps and development opportunities.
  • Create engaging and effective training materials, including presentations, manuals, e-learning modules, and job aids, utilizing a variety of instructional design techniques.
  • Manage and administer the Learning Management System (LMS), including content upload, user enrollment, progress tracking, and reporting.
  • Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and coaching programs for employees at all levels, fostering an interactive and impactful learning environment.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs through relevant metrics, participant feedback, and ROI analysis, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Research and integrate new learning technologies, methodologies, and best practices to keep our L&D offerings innovative and relevant.
  • Collaborate with HR, department managers, and senior leadership to ensure L&D initiatives support broader HR and business objectives.
  • Mentor and guide junior L&D professionals or internal trainers as needed.
  • Manage the L&D budget and resources efficiently.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership capacity.
  • Proven expertise in instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and curriculum development.
  • Strong proficiency in managing and utilizing Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess training needs, design solutions, and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Adult Education, HR Management).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CPTD, ATD, CHRP/CHRL).
  • Experience with various e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate).
  • Familiarity with talent management software and HR analytics.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
