Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an experienced and empathetic Employee Relations Specialist to join our fully remote team. In this ‘Work from Anywhere’ role, you will be instrumental in fostering a positive and productive work environment for our diverse global workforce. As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will be the primary point of contact for employees and management regarding a wide range of HR and employee relations matters. Your expertise will be crucial in interpreting HR policies, resolving workplace conflicts, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and company guidelines across various jurisdictions. This role requires a professional with a deep understanding of employee advocacy, fairness, and dispute resolution. You will advise management on best practices, provide guidance on performance management and disciplinary actions, and contribute to the development of a strong organizational culture built on mutual respect and trust. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary contact for employee relations issues, providing expert advice and guidance to employees and managers.
  • Conduct thorough, impartial, and timely investigations into workplace complaints, grievances, and policy violations, ensuring fairness and discretion.
  • Interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, and relevant employment laws (including Canadian, provincial, and potentially international laws) to guide resolution strategies.
  • Mediate and resolve conflicts between employees, and between employees and management, fostering positive working relationships.
  • Advise managers on performance management, corrective actions, and disciplinary processes, ensuring consistency and compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on employee relations topics, such as conflict resolution, harassment prevention, and policy adherence.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records and documentation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures based on best practices and legal developments.
  • Collaborate with other HR functions (e.g., HR Business Partners, Legal) to ensure integrated and consistent HR support.
  • Stay current with employment legislation, trends, and best practices in employee relations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in Employee Relations or a related HR field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting workplace investigations and conflict resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices, particularly in Canada (Ontario-specific knowledge is an asset).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitive information effectively.
  • Proven ability to build trust and rapport with employees at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • High degree of empathy, discretion, and ethical judgment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and case management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • HR professional designation (e.g., CHRP, CPHR).
  • Experience working with a diverse, global workforce.
  • Familiarity with remote work best practices and challenges.
  • Experience in developing and delivering HR-related training programs.
