Net Driven is seeking a talented and experienced Remote Software Documentation Editor to join our growing product team. In this critical full-time role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and user-friendliness of all our software-related content, including user manuals, help guides, API documentation, release notes, and internal knowledge base articles. While based out of Scranton, Pennsylvania for administrative purposes, this position offers the flexibility of a fully remote work model, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the United States.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, UX designers, and technical writers to refine complex technical information into easily digestible and actionable content for various audiences, from end-users to developers. Your keen eye for detail will catch grammatical errors, stylistic inconsistencies, and technical inaccuracies, ensuring our documentation is not only precise but also reflects Net Driven’s brand voice and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Edit and proofread a wide range of software documentation, including user guides, API documentation, release notes, and internal knowledge base articles, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and grammatical correctness.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to established style guides, brand voice, and technical writing best practices.
- Collaborate with technical writers, engineers, product managers, and UX designers to understand product functionality and gather necessary information for documentation.
- Verify technical accuracy of content by testing procedures, validating code examples, and cross-referencing with product specifications.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improving documentation structure, readability, and overall user experience.
- Manage documentation version control and publishing processes using various content management systems.
- Conduct regular audits of existing documentation to identify areas for improvement or updates.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of documentation standards, style guides, and templates.
- Provide constructive feedback to technical writers and other content creators to foster continuous improvement in writing quality.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of professional experience in software documentation editing, technical writing, or a related field.
- Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly language.
- Proficiency with content management systems (CMS) and documentation tools (e.g., Zendesk Guide, Confluence, Gitbook, DITA/XML authoring tools).
