Job Description

Atkins, a renowned global leader in engineering and design, part of the SNC-Lavalin Group, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Work from Home Environmental Analyst to join our dynamic UK-based environmental consulting team. While this role is primarily remote, we are anchoring it to our Milton Keynes operational hub, providing a sense of community and the option for occasional team meetings or project collaborations as needed.

In this pivotal role, you will contribute significantly to a diverse portfolio of environmental projects, supporting both public and private sector clients across the UK. You will be instrumental in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex environmental data to inform critical decision-making processes. Your work will directly support environmental impact assessments, strategic environmental assessments, due diligence, and sustainability reporting for major infrastructure, energy, and urban development projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive environmental data collection, analysis, and interpretation for a range of projects, including baseline studies, impact assessments, and monitoring programs.
  • Prepare detailed environmental reports, technical notes, and presentations that clearly communicate findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Undertake research into environmental legislation, policy, and best practice, ensuring project compliance and innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs), and other environmental appraisal documents.
  • Support environmental due diligence processes and sustainability assessments.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage project tasks and deadlines efficiently, ensuring deliverables are of high quality and submitted on time.
  • Provide technical input and advice on environmental matters throughout project lifecycles.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of environmental issues, trends, and technological advancements.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, workshops, and client presentations, primarily virtually.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Environmental Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation, policy frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in environmental data analysis and interpretation, including statistical methods and GIS applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical report writing.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote work environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership or working towards membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM).
  • Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB).
  • Familiarity with environmental modeling software or advanced GIS skills.
  • Project management experience, particularly in a consulting environment.
