Job Description

The Director of Learning & Development (L&D) at Career.zycto will be a strategic and visionary leader responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive learning and development programs that align seamlessly with our organizational goals and foster an unwavering culture of continuous growth and innovation. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continually refine a comprehensive L&D strategy aligned with Career.zycto's strategic objectives and talent development goals.
  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging, high-impact learning programs, courses, and workshops using a variety of modalities (e.g., e-learning, blended learning, instructor-led training, microlearning).
  • Conduct thorough organizational needs assessments and performance analyses to identify critical skill gaps, development priorities, and desired learning outcomes.
  • Establish robust metrics and evaluation frameworks to measure the effectiveness, impact, and return on investment (ROI) of all L&D initiatives, providing regular reports to senior leadership.
  • Manage the L&D budget, optimize resource allocation, and strategically oversee relationships with external vendors, consultants, and training providers.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small but dedicated L&D team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Implement and manage learning technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and virtual collaboration platforms, ensuring optimal user experience.
  • Develop and execute progressive leadership development programs, succession planning initiatives, and talent pipelines to nurture future leaders within the organization.
  • Champion a proactive culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development across all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure all L&D initiatives are inclusive, support diversity, equity, and belonging (DEB) goals, and cater to the diverse needs of our workforce.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (9+ years) in designing, implementing, and managing strategic L&D programs within a corporate environment.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of inspiring and developing L&D professionals.
  • Expertise in instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and various learning technologies.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate).
  • Strong strategic thinking with an ability to connect L&D initiatives directly to tangible business outcomes and organizational growth.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a focus on timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality program delivery.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to effectively measure program effectiveness, identify trends, and demonstrate ROI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in coaching, psychometric assessments, talent management, or advanced instructional design (e.g., CPTD, ATD).
  • Experience working in a multinational, complex, or rapidly scaling organizational setting, particularly within the African context.
  • Familiarity with emerging L&D technologies and trends, such as AI in learning, gamification, virtual reality (VR) training, and adaptive learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in building an L&D function or department from the ground up, establishing foundational processes and frameworks.
