Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our esteemed team at Juristconsult Chambers. As a Paralegal, you will be instrumental in assisting our barristers and legal professionals across various practice areas, including corporate, commercial, litigation, and financial services. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct extensive legal research using various online databases and traditional resources to support ongoing cases and legal opinions.
  • Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, agreements, correspondence, and memoranda, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
  • Assist barristers in preparing for trials, hearings, meetings, and client presentations by organizing documents, exhibits, and research materials.
  • Manage and maintain physical and electronic case files, ensuring all documentation is accurately categorized, updated, and easily retrievable.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling communications with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
  • Support due diligence processes by gathering and analyzing relevant corporate and regulatory information.
  • Summarize deposition transcripts, interrogatories, and other legal documents for attorney review.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of various legal forms and applications with regulatory bodies and courts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information and firm matters.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or a Paralegal Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Proven experience (minimum 1 year) as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably within a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Exceptional legal research skills, with proficiency in using online legal databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, or local equivalents).
  • Strong command of written and spoken English and French.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in corporate law, commercial litigation, or financial services law.
