Key Responsibilities
- Operate company-owned vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods, materials, and personnel as per assigned schedules and routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all systems are in good working order and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Verify load accuracy against delivery manifests, secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit, and assist with loading and unloading when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance logs.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Handle delivery documentation, including signing for goods and obtaining customer signatures.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentable condition of the company vehicle at all times.
- Navigate routes efficiently, utilizing GPS and local knowledge to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's Licence (Jamaica)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience (commercial or delivery experience preferred)
- Clean driving record with no major violations
- Strong knowledge of Portmore, St. Catherine, and surrounding road networks
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to lift and move packages (up to 50 lbs) safely
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle checks
- High degree of reliability and punctuality
- Proficiency in using GPS navigation devices
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with courier or logistics software systems
- Customer service experience in a delivery context
- Defensive driving certification
- First Aid/CPR certification
