Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on a variety of motorcycles, scooters, and small engines.
- Execute routine servicing, including oil changes, tyre fitting, brake adjustments, and chain maintenance.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using advanced diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
- Carry out complex repairs such as engine rebuilds, gearbox overhauls, clutch replacements, and suspension servicing.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new vehicles and thorough safety checks on all serviced machines.
- Maintain detailed and accurate service records, job cards, and parts orders.
- Communicate effectively with customers, explaining technical issues, repair processes, and associated costs clearly and professionally.
- Adhere strictly to manufacturer specifications, health and safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Manage workshop cleanliness, organisation, and tool maintenance.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with industry advancements and new vehicle technologies.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable expertise in motorcycle mechanics and small engine repair.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities across various makes and models.
- Proficiency in using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and specialised diagnostic equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of motorcycle electrical systems, fuel injection systems, carburetion, and braking systems.
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams, service manuals, and wiring schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, precision, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Valid UK driving license with a motorcycle entitlement (A category).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for customer interaction and record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or Motorcycle Maintenance & Repair.
- Previous experience working with a diverse range of motorcycle brands (e.g., Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW, Triumph).
- Familiarity with MOT testing procedures and requirements for motorcycles.
- Proven experience in a customer-facing workshop environment.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
