Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Farm Supervisor to lead our field operations in Naivasha. This pivotal role requires a hands-on leader with a robust understanding of large-scale horticultural practices, particularly in flower cultivation. As a Farm Supervisor, you will be instrumental in overseeing daily field activities, ensuring optimal crop health, productivity, and adherence to our stringent quality standards. You will manage a team of farm workers, providing guidance, training, and motivation to achieve operational excellence. Your responsibilities will span from meticulous planning and execution of planting and harvesting schedules to integrated pest and disease management, irrigation scheduling, and nutrient application. This role demands a proactive individual with strong problem-solving skills, capable of identifying issues in the field and implementing effective solutions swiftly.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage daily field operations, including planting, irrigation, fertigation, weeding, pruning, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.
- Lead, train, and motivate a team of farm workers, ensuring efficient task allocation and adherence to work plans.
- Monitor crop health, identify pest and disease outbreaks, and implement effective control measures in line with company protocols and sustainable practices.
- Oversee irrigation and nutrient management programs, ensuring optimal water and fertilizer application for various crop stages.
- Maintain accurate records of all field activities, inputs (fertilizers, pesticides), labor hours, and crop yields.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control standards for all produce, from field to packhouse.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations across all field operations.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, ensuring their proper use and upkeep.
- Collaborate with other departmental supervisors and management to optimize farm productivity and resource utilization.
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports for farm management.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Farm Supervisor or similar role in large-scale horticulture, preferably in flower or vegetable farming.
- Diploma or Certificate in General Agriculture, Horticulture, Crop Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrable knowledge of crop management techniques, including propagation, nutrition, pest, and disease control.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and train a diverse workforce.
- Excellent observational and problem-solving abilities to identify and address field issues promptly.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and basic agricultural data analysis.
- Commitment to sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship.
- Fluency in English and Swahili (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related scientific field.
- Experience with irrigation systems and greenhouse management.
- Certification in relevant agricultural practices (e.g., GAP, pesticide application).
- Familiarity with modern agricultural software and technologies.
