Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to various destinations within Portmore and surrounding areas.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition; report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Load, unload, and secure items properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify accuracy of delivery contents against shipping documents and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with customers, colleagues, and other road users.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries.
- Assist with basic vehicle maintenance tasks as needed (e.g., checking fluid levels, tire pressure).
- Handle unexpected situations or delays with composure and communicate effectively with dispatch.
- Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of the company vehicle.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (e.g., Class B or C in Jamaica)
- Clean driving record with no major violations for the past 3-5 years
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or similar role
- Strong knowledge of Greater Portmore and St. Catherine road networks
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High degree of responsibility and reliability
- Basic numeracy and literacy for handling paperwork
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software
- Prior experience driving commercial vans or light trucks
