Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome guests upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Provide comprehensive information about resort facilities, services, local attractions, and activities in Lamu.
- Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, striving for immediate resolution and guest satisfaction.
- Assist guests with luggage handling, room orientation, and transportation arrangements.
- Coordinate with various resort departments (housekeeping, F&B, maintenance) to fulfill guest needs efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting lobby and reception area.
- Process guest payments, manage billing inquiries, and handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
- Proactively offer assistance and anticipate guest requirements to enhance their overall experience.
- Assist with reservations and booking modifications when required.
- Uphold the highest standards of hospitality, professionalism, and personal presentation at all times.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by assisting colleagues and communicating effectively.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service, hospitality, or front office role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to assist guests.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a calm demeanor under pressure.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- A positive attitude, professional appearance, and a commitment to service excellence.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
- Knowledge of a third language (e.g., French, German, Italian).
- Familiarity with Property Management Systems (PMS).
- Previous experience working in a resort or hotel setting in Lamu or coastal Kenya.
- Local knowledge of Lamu's history, culture, and attractions.
