Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport goods and materials to designated locations according to assigned schedules and routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling, securing, and documentation of all items.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service during interactions at pickup and delivery points.
- Operate various types of delivery vehicles, which may include vans, box trucks, or flatbeds, depending on requirements.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other tasks as needed when not on a delivery route.
Required Skills
- Valid California Driver’s License (Class C or higher, as required)
- Clean driving record for the past 3-5 years
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly
- Proficient in using GPS navigation and route optimization tools
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Knowledge of local Torrance and Southern California area roads and traffic patterns
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Familiarity with various types of cargo securing techniques
- Prior experience in a delivery or transport role for a logistics company
- Customer service experience in a face-to-face setting
