Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a passenger bus on designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Maintain strict adherence to timetables and schedules, ensuring punctuality for passengers.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues or defects immediately.
- Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including those with disabilities, ensuring a comfortable experience.
- Collect fares, issue tickets, and provide change accurately, if applicable.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering passenger inquiries politely and professionally.
- Manage passenger behaviour to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for everyone on board.
- Handle unexpected situations (e.g., traffic delays, minor incidents) calmly and effectively, following company protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the bus interior.
- Complete daily logs, incident reports, and other necessary paperwork accurately.
Required Skills
- Valid UK PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) Licence (Category D or D1)
- Driver CPC qualification
- Excellent driving record with no active disqualifications
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Punctual and reliable with a strong work ethic
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods and perform vehicle checks
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating buses or other large passenger vehicles
- Familiarity with Northfield, Aberdeen routes and local geography
- First Aid certification
- Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus
