Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles for the delivery and collection of goods across designated routes.
  • Adhere strictly to all road safety regulations, traffic laws, and company driving policies at all times.
  • Perform mandatory pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, accurately reporting any defects, damages, or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Ensure timely delivery schedules are met, proactively communicating any potential delays or issues to the logistics coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including obtaining proof of delivery documentation (e.g., signatures, photographs).
  • Assist with the careful loading and unloading of goods as required, ensuring proper handling, securing, and protection of cargo.
  • Provide excellent customer service during all interactions with clients, partners, and the public at delivery points.
  • Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and well-maintained, ensuring a professional appearance reflective of the company’s standards.
  • Navigate routes effectively and efficiently using GPS systems, digital maps, and sound local geographical knowledge.
  • Comply with all company guidelines regarding vehicle fuel consumption and mileage tracking.

Required Skills

  • Valid Mauritian Driving License (Class 3 Private Car/Light Goods Vehicle minimum).
  • Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in a logistics or commercial delivery setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of road safety regulations, traffic laws, and driving practices in Mauritius.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of St Jean, Quatre Bornes, and surrounding regions.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle checks and identify potential maintenance issues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team interaction.
  • High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Impeccable driving record with no major violations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of a Class 4 (Heavy Goods Vehicle) or Class 5 (Public Service Vehicle) driving license.
  • Experience with logistics software, route optimization tools, or digital delivery platforms.
  • First Aid certification or basic emergency response training.
  • Familiarity with various types of goods handling, packaging, and securing methods.
  • Fluency in both English and French; proficiency in Mauritian Creole is an advantage.
