Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload various types of cargo from barges, trucks, and railcars using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment efficiently and safely (training provided if necessary).
- Secure cargo for transport, ensuring stability and preventing damage.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing cargo for damage and discrepancies, reporting any issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and port regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the port and warehouse areas.
- Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and other port personnel to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform general labor tasks as required, supporting overall logistics and warehousing functions.
- Participate in regular safety briefings and training sessions.
- Be available for varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, based on operational needs.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy objects (up to 25 kg).
- Strong understanding and commitment to workplace safety procedures.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic proficiency in German or English for communication in a professional setting.
