Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Livestock Caretaker to join our thriving farm operations in Bassin, Quatre Bornes. This vital role involves the daily care and management of our livestock, ensuring their health, well-being, and productivity. As a Livestock Caretaker, you will be at the heart of our agricultural efforts, directly contributing to the ethical treatment and sustainable management of our animals. Your daily tasks will encompass a wide range of responsibilities crucial to the optimal functioning of our farm. You will be responsible for preparing and distributing feed according to specific dietary plans and schedules, monitoring feed intake, and ensuring constant access to fresh water for all animals. A keen eye for detail is essential, as you will regularly inspect livestock for any signs of illness, injury, or distress, promptly reporting any concerns to the farm manager. Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment is paramount; therefore, you will undertake routine cleaning and disinfection of stalls, pens, and surrounding areas.
Beyond feeding and cleaning, this role involves assisting with various farm activities such as animal handling for health checks, vaccinations, and other veterinary procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute daily feed rations according to established schedules and dietary requirements.
- Monitor livestock for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report findings promptly to the farm manager.
- Ensure continuous access to fresh water for all animals and maintain water troughs.
- Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of animal pens, stalls, and farm facilities to uphold hygiene standards.
- Assist with animal handling for veterinary procedures, vaccinations, and other health-related tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of feeding, animal health observations, and farm activities.
- Participate in general farm maintenance, including fencing, grounds keeping, and equipment cleaning.
- Operate farm equipment safely and efficiently, such as feeders or small utility vehicles, if required.
- Adhere strictly to all animal welfare protocols and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and follow instructions from farm management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in animal handling and care (minimum 1 year).
