Job Description
As a Work from Home Safety and Compliance Officer at Arcadis, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our operations, particularly within the UK, adhere to the highest standards of health, safety, and regulatory compliance. Working remotely, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring our safety management systems and compliance programs across various projects and business units. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety and Compliance policies and procedures in line with UK legislation (e.g., HSWA 1974, CDM Regulations).
- Conduct regular risk assessments and compliance audits (virtually where appropriate) to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to internal and external standards.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs and awareness campaigns for remote and on-site teams.
- Monitor changes in legislation and industry best practices, updating company policies and procedures accordingly.
- Prepare and submit all necessary regulatory reports and documentation.
- Manage compliance documentation and records, ensuring they are accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible.
- Collaborate with various departments to embed a strong safety culture across the organization.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Safety or Compliance Officer, preferably in a remote or hybrid environment.
- In-depth knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and compliance frameworks.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent recognized safety qualification.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with compliance management software.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities effectively in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM).
- Experience with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management) implementation and auditing.
- Experience in the consulting, engineering, or construction sectors.
