Job Description
We are actively seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as an Entry-Level Lifeguard Beach Safety Staff at our beautiful beachside location in Kwa Mchina, Zanzibar City. As a vital member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and safety of all hotel guests and visitors utilizing our beach and water facilities. Your primary role will involve vigilant supervision of designated beach areas, proactive enforcement of safety regulations, and swift response to any emergencies. This position requires a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. You will work closely with other team members, interact with guests, and contribute to the overall positive reputation of Zanzibar Serena Hotel. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you are fully equipped with the necessary skills and certifications to excel in this role. Key Responsibilities
- Vigilantly monitor designated beach and water areas to prevent accidents and ensure guest safety.
- Enforce all beach and water safety rules and regulations with a polite yet firm demeanor.
- Respond immediately and effectively to emergency situations, performing rescues and administering first aid/CPR as needed.
- Maintain rescue equipment in excellent working condition and ensure its immediate availability.
- Educate guests on safe practices, current water conditions, and potential hazards.
- Conduct regular safety checks of beach facilities, equipment, and surrounding areas.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of beach amenities, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Complete daily logs, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless and safe guest experience.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated strong swimming proficiency and water rescue skills.
- Ability to obtain or current certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED.
- Exceptional observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and act decisively in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.
- High level of physical fitness and stamina.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role, even in a volunteer capacity.
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
- Fluency in Swahili and English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
- Familiarity with local marine life, tides, and beach conditions in Zanzibar.
