Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Stage Lighting Technician to illuminate the vibrant world of live music events across West Didsbury, Manchester, and beyond. Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, set up, operate, and dismantle lighting equipment for live music events, ensuring adherence to event specifications and safety standards.
- Perform pre-event checks, calibration, and routine maintenance on all lighting fixtures, consoles, dimmers, and associated cabling.
- Collaborate closely with production managers, artists, sound engineers, and stage crew for seamless integration of lighting with other production elements.
- Operate lighting consoles during live performances, executing cues and making on-the-fly adjustments to enhance atmosphere and artistic intent.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with lighting systems quickly and efficiently during setup, rehearsal, and live shows.
- Manage and maintain inventory of lighting equipment, reporting any faults or requirements for repair/replacement.
- Stay updated with the latest lighting technology, software, and industry best practices to continuously improve production quality.
- Ensure all rigging, cabling, and electrical connections are secure, tidy, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Stage Lighting Technician, specifically in live music or event production.
- Proficiency in operating various lighting consoles (e.g., Avolites, grandMA, ETC, Chamsys) and DMX protocols.
- Strong understanding of lighting theory, color mixing, beam shaping, and visual effects.
- In-depth knowledge of different lighting fixtures, including moving heads, LED wash lights, conventionals, and hazers/foggers.
- Ability to read and interpret lighting plots, schematics, and technical riders.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for electrical and data signal issues.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work at heights, and stand for extended periods, often in varied environmental conditions.
- Valid UK driving license and ability to travel to various event locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal qualification in Lighting Design, Technical Theatre, or a related field.
- Experience with lighting visualization software (e.g., Capture, Vectorworks Spotlight).
- Knowledge of video integration and media servers in live productions.
- IPAF or PASMA certification.
- First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with local West Didsbury and Manchester venues and suppliers.
