Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable Adventure Tour Guides to lead unforgettable experiences across the breathtaking landscapes and cultural treasures of Phoenix, Vacoas-Phoenix, and the wider Mauritius island. As an Adventure Tour Guide, you will be the face of our tours, guiding groups through various excursions, from hiking scenic trails and exploring historical sites to engaging in thrilling outdoor activities. You will be responsible for creating a safe, informative, and entertaining environment for all participants, ensuring their journey is filled with discovery and joy. This dynamic position requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and the ability to think on your feet, making every tour a unique and memorable adventure for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide groups on various adventure tours, including hiking, cultural excursions, and sightseeing, adhering to planned itineraries.
  • Provide engaging, accurate, and relevant commentary on local history, culture, geology, flora, and fauna.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants, conducting safety briefings and managing any potential risks.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing guest inquiries, concerns, and special requests professionally.
  • Manage group dynamics effectively, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all guests.
  • Operate and maintain tour equipment as needed, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all company policies, local regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Assist with basic first aid if necessary and know how to escalate emergencies.
  • Complete post-tour reports and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication and storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency in English and French (both written and spoken).
  • Strong knowledge of Mauritius' geography, history, culture, and natural environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proven ability to manage groups and lead outdoor activities safely.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to handle unexpected situations.
  • Physical fitness appropriate for leading active tours (hiking, walking long distances).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Additional language proficiency (e.g., German, Mandarin, Creole).
  • Previous experience as a tour guide or in a customer-facing role within the tourism industry.
  • Valid driving license with experience driving passenger vehicles.
  • Degree or diploma in Tourism, Hospitality, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
