Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Stagehands to join our vibrant team in Shawlands, Glasgow. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals passionate about live entertainment, theatre, and concerts to contribute their skills to a wide array of productions. As a Stagehand, you will be an integral part of the crew responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all technical aspects of a show, from initial setup to final strike. This role demands physical stamina, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with production managers, lighting technicians, sound engineers, and fellow crew members to ensure every performance runs smoothly and delivers an unforgettable experience for our audiences. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of stage equipment, sets, props, and instruments.
  • Participate in the assembly and dismantling of stage sets, scenic elements, and backdrops.
  • Support the setup and operation of lighting, sound, and video equipment under the guidance of lead technicians.
  • Manage and organize stage props and furniture during rehearsals and live performances.
  • Ensure all stage areas are clear, safe, and ready for performers and crew.
  • Perform general maintenance and care of theatre equipment and tools.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with other crew members and department heads to ensure seamless transitions and operations.
  • Troubleshoot minor technical issues during productions as required.
  • Assist with rigging and flying operations, if appropriately trained and certified.

Required Skills

  • Proven physical fitness and stamina to handle demanding tasks, including heavy lifting.
  • Strong ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools common in stagecraft.
  • Reliability and punctuality, understanding the critical nature of show timelines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and adapting to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Commitment to workplace safety protocols and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications in stagecraft, rigging, or health and safety.
  • Previous experience in a theatre, concert venue, or live events setting.
  • Familiarity with various types of stage equipment, including lighting consoles, soundboards, and rigging systems.
  • A valid UK driving license.
  • First Aid certification.
