We are currently seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and highly dedicated Teachers’ Aide – Entry Level to join our supportive team at Discovery Bay All-Age School. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in preparing and organizing classroom materials and learning aids for daily lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students requiring additional assistance with assignments or learning concepts.
  • Help supervise students during classroom activities, playtime, lunch, and other non-instructional periods, ensuring their safety and engagement.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized, and welcoming classroom environment, including tidying up after activities and ensuring resources are accessible.
  • Assist with basic record-keeping, such as tracking student progress, attendance, and completion of assignments.
  • Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) or special learning accommodations under the teacher's guidance.
  • Facilitate positive interactions among students, promoting teamwork, respectful communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Escort students safely within school premises, to and from transportation, or during supervised field trips.
  • Observe and report student behavior, academic progress, and any concerns to the lead teacher promptly.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of classroom equipment, technology, and learning stations as needed.
  • Support the teacher in managing classroom behavior and reinforcing school rules and positive behavioral expectations.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and school meetings as required to enhance skills and contribute to school goals.

Required Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children of various ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Basic computer literacy (e.g., using word processors, email for communication).
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic and fast-paced classroom environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and perform duties requiring physical activity (e.g., standing, walking, bending, assisting children).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer or informal experience working with children (e.g., tutoring, childcare, youth groups, camp counselor).
  • Certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Familiarity with basic classroom management techniques and positive behavior support strategies.
  • Currently pursuing or interested in pursuing further education in teaching, early childhood development, or a related field.
