Job Description
Busia Sugar Company Ltd is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Quality Assurance Inspector to join our dynamic team. This full-time, on-site role is critical to maintaining the high standards of our sugar production process, from raw material reception to the final packaged product. As a Quality Assurance Inspector, you will be instrumental in safeguarding product integrity, ensuring compliance with both internal specifications and external regulatory requirements. Your daily activities will involve conducting comprehensive inspections, performing various tests on samples, documenting findings accurately, and working collaboratively with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues proactively. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products.
- Conduct physical, chemical, and sensory tests on sugar and related by-products according to established protocols.
- Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
- Identify and document non-conforming products or processes, initiating corrective actions as necessary.
- Prepare detailed reports of inspection findings, test results, and quality data.
- Maintain accurate records of all quality control activities, including sample management and calibration records.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and logistics teams to address quality issues and implement preventive measures.
- Assist in the development and review of quality control procedures and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP principles, and relevant food safety regulations.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality best practices and standards.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Industrial Microbiology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role, preferably within the food, beverage, or sugar manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality control principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP principles.
- Proficiency in laboratory testing techniques and equipment operation.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ISO 22000 or other international food safety management systems.
- Certification in HACCP or Food Safety Management.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
- Knowledge of Kenyan food safety regulations and standards.
