Career.zycto is seeking a skilled and passionate Lighting Technician to join our dynamic events team, specializing in stage and event setup. Based in the vibrant Temple Meads Area of Bristol, you will be instrumental in transforming creative visions into dazzling realities for a diverse range of clients. From pre-production planning and equipment preparation to on-site installation, programming, operation, and dismantle, you will be a crucial contributor to the success of every event. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the loading, unloading, and setup of lighting equipment for various events and stages.
- Install, focus, and maintain stage lighting fixtures, trussing, and control systems, ensuring optimal performance.
- Execute lighting plots and designs precisely under the guidance of lead technicians or designers.
- Perform routine checks and proactive troubleshooting of lighting equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Operate lighting consoles and programming software proficiently during rehearsals and live events.
- Collaborate effectively with other technical departments (audio, video, staging) for integrated event solutions.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices at all times.
- Dismantle and pack down lighting equipment efficiently post-event, ensuring proper storage and maintenance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff or trainees when required, fostering a learning environment.
- Maintain an organized and safe working environment in both the warehouse and on-site at event locations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Lighting Technician in live events, theatre, or broadcast.
- Strong knowledge of various lighting fixtures (LED, moving heads, conventional) and control protocols (DMX, Art-Net).
- Proficiency in operating professional lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Avolites, Chamsys).
- Ability to accurately read and interpret lighting plots and technical drawings.
- Understanding of basic electrical principles and comprehensive safety procedures.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 25kg) safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot under pressure in dynamic environments.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to various event sites.
- Exceptional teamwork and clear communication skills to collaborate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualification or certification in lighting design, production, or electrical engineering.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., Vectorworks, AutoCAD) for lighting design visualization.
- Knowledge of rigging principles and practices (IPAF, PASMA certifications are a plus).
- Familiarity with video integration and media servers for comprehensive event visuals.
- Previous experience working specifically within the Temple Meads Area or Bristol's vibrant events scene.
