Job Description
BM Security is seeking dedicated and vigilant Nightlife Security Officers to join our esteemed team, specifically assigned to prominent entertainment venues and clubs within the vibrant Donholm area of Nairobi. This crucial role involves ensuring a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for patrons and staff alike. As a Nightlife Security Officer, you will be the front-line ambassador of safety, responsible for proactive risk management, crowd control, and maintaining order while upholding the venue’s professional image. Your duties will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, from meticulously checking identifications and managing entry/exit points to expertly de-escalating potential conflicts and responding swiftly to emergencies. We are looking for individuals who possess not only a strong physical presence and an astute sense of observation but also exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough checks of identification to verify age and prevent unauthorized entry.
- Manage crowd flow and ensure orderly queues at entry and exit points.
- Monitor patrons' behavior for signs of intoxication, aggressive conduct, or other potential risks.
- Intervene and de-escalate verbal disputes or physical altercations professionally and effectively.
- Remove unruly or disruptive individuals from the premises respectfully and according to established protocols.
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, coordinating with management and law enforcement as necessary.
- Conduct regular patrols of the venue, including restrooms, exits, and restricted areas.
- Provide assistance to patrons and staff, offering directions, information, and maintaining a friendly demeanor.
- Enforce venue policies and regulations consistently and fairly.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate logs of daily activities.
- Operate security equipment such as surveillance cameras and access control systems.
- Administer basic first aid in emergencies until professional medical help arrives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in security, particularly in a nightlife or high-traffic public venue setting.
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
- Physical fitness and stamina to stand for long periods and handle potential physical interventions.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and emergency procedures.
- Valid security guard license or relevant certification as required by Kenyan law.
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum KCSE D+ (or equivalent) certificate.
- Additional training in defensive tactics or martial arts.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Customer service experience in a hospitality environment.
- Experience with CCTV monitoring and security software.
- A clean criminal record and a verifiable employment history.
