Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Microbiologist to join our dynamic team in Achdorf, Landshut. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical research, quality control, and product development initiatives within a forward-thinking organization. As a Microbiologist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of our products and processes through rigorous microbiological analysis and monitoring. Your daily activities will involve working with various microbial cultures, employing advanced analytical techniques, and maintaining pristine laboratory conditions. This includes performing microbial limit tests, pathogen detection, environmental monitoring, and sterility testing using both traditional and rapid microbiological methods. You will contribute to the development and validation of new testing protocols, troubleshoot any analytical issues that arise, and ensure strict adherence to industry regulations, such as GMP/GLP, and internal quality standards. The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining meticulous attention to detail is crucial. You will also be expected to prepare comprehensive technical reports, maintain accurate and organized records of all experiments and analyses, and confidently present your findings to interdisciplinary teams, including R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform microbial testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring of production facilities and cleanrooms.
  • Identify and characterize microorganisms using various traditional and rapid laboratory techniques.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize microbiological testing methods and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records and prepare comprehensive reports of all analyses.
  • Ensure strict compliance with GxP regulations (GMP/GLP) and internal quality standards.
  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results, deviations, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Participate in troubleshooting efforts and continuous improvement initiatives for laboratory processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production teams.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper function and preventative maintenance.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a microbiology laboratory setting, preferably in an industrial context.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of aseptic techniques and microbial culturing.
  • Proficiency in microbial identification, enumeration, and susceptibility testing methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of GxP (Good Manufacturing/Laboratory Practices) regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) for scientific communication.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced rapid microbiological methods and automation.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Experience gained within the pharmaceutical, food, or chemical industry.
  • Knowledge of the German language (B1 level or higher).
  • Evidence of scientific contributions such as publications or presentations in relevant fields.
