Job Description

An A&R Intern at Career.zycto offers an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring music professionals to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of artist and repertoire development. You will play a pivotal role in the initial stages of artist discovery, working closely with our experienced A&R team to identify promising artists across diverse genres. Beyond talent identification, you’ll be instrumental in supporting our artists’ journey. This includes assisting with artist outreach, organizing and maintaining our extensive demo submission database, and contributing to strategic discussions around artist development. You’ll gain firsthand insight into how a record label operates, from understanding publishing and licensing basics to learning about marketing and promotion strategies that elevate an artist’s profile. We’re looking for someone with an insatiable curiosity for music, a keen ear for what’s new and exciting, and a proactive attitude eager to learn the ropes of the industry.

This internship will also expose you to various administrative tasks crucial for the smooth operation of an A&R department. You might help coordinate meetings, prepare presentations, conduct competitive analysis, or assist in tracking artist performance metrics. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist A&R managers in the scouting and evaluation of new musical talent.
  • Review and provide initial feedback on demo submissions across various genres.
  • Conduct thorough market research on music trends, emerging artists, and competitive landscapes.
  • Support artist outreach and communication efforts, fostering positive relationships.
  • Maintain and organize the demo submission database and artist information.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and analyses for A&R team meetings.
  • Attend local music showcases, open mic nights, and industry events to discover new talent.
  • Provide administrative support to the A&R department as needed.

Required Skills

  • Deep passion for music and a wide knowledge of current and emerging artists/genres.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A proactive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow within the music industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Music Business, Communications, Entertainment Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (internship, volunteer, or personal projects) within the music industry or talent management.

  • Active presence and understanding of social media trends and platforms for artist promotion.
