As an Audio Tour Assistant, you will be the friendly face of our immersive visitor experience, helping guests discover the captivating tales and hidden gems of Robin Hood’s Bay. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the distribution and collection of audio tour devices, ensuring they are in perfect working order and ready for use. You’ll provide clear, concise instructions on how to use the equipment, troubleshoot minor technical issues, and offer local insights to enhance each visitor’s journey. Beyond the technical aspects, you’ll engage with a diverse range of visitors from around the world, answering their questions, providing directions, and making their visit memorable and enjoyable. Key Responsibilities

  • Distribute and collect audio tour devices to and from visitors, ensuring accurate inventory.
  • Provide clear, concise instructions to visitors on how to operate audio tour equipment.
  • Perform daily checks on devices, including charging, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Respond to visitor inquiries, offer local recommendations, and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain a tidy and organised reception or distribution point for audio tour equipment.
  • Report any significant technical faults or damage to the audio tour system to management.
  • Assist with visitor flow management, especially during peak seasons.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
  • Basic technical proficiency for operating and troubleshooting audio devices.
  • Attention to detail and organisational skills for inventory management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to resolve minor issues efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required by tourist demand.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, or customer service roles.
  • Familiarity with the history and local attractions of Robin Hood’s Bay or similar heritage sites.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with audio equipment or similar electronic devices.
