Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Data Privacy Officer to join our team in Aachen. As our Data Privacy Officer, you will be the cornerstone of our privacy framework, responsible for guiding our compliance efforts with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other pertinent national and international data privacy laws. You will serve as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities and data subjects, handling inquiries, managing data breach incidents, and conducting essential Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs). Furthermore, you will be responsible for educating and training our employees on data privacy best practices, fostering a privacy-aware culture across all departments. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data privacy policies and procedures in line with GDPR and national data protection laws.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for data subjects and supervisory authorities regarding data protection matters.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects, systems, and significant changes to existing processes.
  • Monitor compliance with internal data protection rules and external regulations, providing regular reports to management.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to all departments on data protection issues, ensuring 'privacy by design' principles are integrated.
  • Manage and investigate data breaches, coordinating incident response and implementing corrective measures.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing data protection training and awareness programs for all employees.
  • Oversee the handling of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and other privacy-related inquiries.
  • Stay abreast of changes in data protection legislation, guidance, and best practices, and advise on necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with legal, IT, and security teams to ensure a cohesive approach to data governance and risk management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Privacy Officer, Data Protection Officer, or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of GDPR and German federal and state data protection laws (e.g., BDSG).
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and data governance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Proficiency in both German and English (written and spoken) at a professional level.
  • Certified Data Protection Officer (e.g., CIPP/E, CDPO, GDDcert®).
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, IT, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., finance, healthcare, technology).
  • Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) and privacy management software.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
  • Experience with international data transfers and related compliance frameworks (e.g., SCCs, Schrems II).
