TransNet Computer Services is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Part-Time Network Configuration Analyst to join our growing team in East Vancouver. In this essential role, you will be instrumental in the setup, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of critical network infrastructure for our diverse client base. As a Network Configuration Analyst, you will work closely with our senior engineers and project managers to ensure that all network devices, from routers and switches to firewalls and wireless access points, are configured precisely to client specifications and industry best practices. Your day-to-day will involve interpreting network designs, implementing configurations, meticulously documenting changes, and conducting thorough testing to validate functionality and performance. You will be a key player in ensuring network reliability, security, and efficiency, directly impacting our clients’ operational success. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the configuration, installation, and deployment of various network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, according to design specifications and best practices.
  • Perform routine network maintenance, firmware upgrades, and security patching to ensure optimal performance and security of client networks.
  • Assist in the diagnosis and resolution of complex network issues, utilizing diagnostic tools and collaborating with senior technical staff.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.
  • Implement and enforce network security policies and access controls as directed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to understand requirements and provide technical support related to network configurations.
  • Participate in project planning and execution phases for network infrastructure upgrades and new deployments.

Required Skills

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
  • Proven experience with configuration and troubleshooting of network hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, or similar.
  • Proficiency in utilizing network monitoring and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical problems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with cloud networking platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for network automation.
  • Prior experience supporting VoIP systems and Quality of Service (QoS) configurations.
  • Exposure to managed IT service provider (MSP) environments.
