Your work will directly influence the atmosphere and efficiency of various productions, working closely with lighting technicians, sound engineers, directors, and performers to achieve a seamless show. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the safe and efficient setup and striking of stage equipment, props, and scenic elements for various productions.
  • Operate rigging systems, fly lines, and other mechanical equipment under supervision, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed.
  • Load and unload trucks with production equipment, sets, and costumes, ensuring careful handling and secure transport.
  • Provide support to lighting, sound, and AV technicians for equipment placement, cabling, and adjustments.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on stage equipment and report any issues promptly.
  • Collaborate effectively with directors, stage managers, designers, and other crew members to achieve production goals.
  • Respond to immediate technical needs and unforeseen challenges during rehearsals and live performances.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe backstage environment at all times.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations pertinent to theatre and live event production.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 25kg).
  • Basic understanding of stagecraft, theatre terminology, and live event production.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety standards and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as productions demand.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a stagehand or in a similar technical theatre role.
  • Formal training or certification in technical theatre, stage management, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of specific rigging techniques or specialized stage machinery.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Full UK driving license for potential transport duties.
