Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the accurate input and processing of payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefits.
  • Verify and reconcile employee timesheets and attendance records to ensure proper calculation of hours worked.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential payroll records, ensuring all documentation is organized and easily retrievable.
  • Support the preparation of payroll reports for management and internal audits.
  • Assist with basic employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits, escalating complex issues to senior staff.
  • Ensure compliance with company payroll policies and relevant Mozambican labor laws and tax regulations.
  • Collaborate with the HR and Accounting departments to ensure seamless information flow and data consistency.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end payroll closing procedures, including assisting with tax filings and other statutory contributions.
  • Perform general administrative duties as required to support the efficient operation of the payroll department.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data entry and basic analysis.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Excellent basic mathematical and numerical reasoning abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in Portuguese.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or a diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Prior experience (even an internship) in an administrative, data entry, or office support role.
  • Familiarity with payroll software or accounting systems (e.g., Primavera, SAP) is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of Mozambican labor laws, tax regulations (IRPS), and social security contributions (INSS).
  • Proficiency in English is an added advantage.
