Job Description
Siginon Group is seeking highly skilled and dependable Truck Drivers to join our dynamic logistics and transport team in Nairobi. As an integral part of our operations, you will be responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of goods across various routes, adhering strictly to company policies, national traffic laws, and international transport regulations. This role demands a high level of professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance and safety. You will operate a range of heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring all deliveries are conducted with the utmost care, precision, and customer satisfaction in mind. Beyond driving, you will be expected to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintain accurate logbooks, manage cargo documentation, and represent Siginon Group with integrity and excellent service. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy and specialized vehicles, including articulated trucks, trailers, and rigid trucks, for the transportation of goods.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly to the maintenance department.
- Load and unload cargo safely, ensuring proper securing and weight distribution in compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, delivery logs, and all required documentation (e.g., waybills, delivery notes).
- Adhere strictly to all national traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Plan and execute efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members regarding delivery status, delays, or any operational challenges.
- Handle cargo with care, preventing damage and ensuring secure transport from origin to destination.
- Represent Siginon Group professionally at all times, maintaining a high standard of customer service.
- Assist in basic roadside repairs and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Ensure vehicle cleanliness and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor vehicle performance and general condition to proactively identify potential issues.
Required Skills
- Valid Class G/H or equivalent heavy commercial vehicle driving license.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a heavy-duty truck driver in a logistics environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Kenyan road networks and traffic regulations.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to driving laws.
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
- High level of physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of the job.
- Proven track record of reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in Defensive Driving.
- Experience with specialized cargo (e.g., hazardous materials, oversized loads).
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- Knowledge of vehicle tracking and fleet management systems.
- Additional certifications in first aid or fire safety.
- Fluency in both English and Kiswahili.
