Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized, diligent, and detail-oriented Advocate Clerk specializing in Case Filing to join our dedicated legal team in Roysambu, Nairobi. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents, pleadings, applications, and correspondence with various courts and tribunals.
  • Maintain and organize physical and electronic client and case files, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality.
  • Manage court diaries, schedule appointments, and monitor key filing deadlines and court dates.
  • Assist advocates in the preparation of legal briefs, affidavits, and other relevant case materials.
  • Conduct basic legal research and retrieve case law, statutes, and other legal information as required.
  • Liaise with court registries, process servers, and other external parties to facilitate case progression.
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to specific court rules, formats, and procedural requirements.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing legal mail and communication, ensuring timely distribution and response.
  • Provide administrative support to the legal team, including photocopying, scanning, and data entry.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and summaries related to case status and workload.

Required Skills

  • Diploma in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of practical experience as a legal clerk, advocate assistant, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Familiarity with Kenyan court procedures and legal filing requirements.
  • A proactive attitude and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate of good conduct.
