Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, dedicated, and passionate Primary Level Teacher to join our esteemed faculty at Light Academy Malindi. As a Primary Level Teacher, you will be instrumental in shaping the foundational learning experiences of our young students. This role requires an individual who is not only proficient in delivering the Kenyan CBC (Competency-Based Curriculum) but also possesses a genuine love for children and an ability to inspire a lifelong love for learning. You will be responsible for creating a stimulating, inclusive, and safe classroom environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to explore their potential.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent classroom management skills, a strong understanding of child development, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to various learning styles. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons across all primary subjects in accordance with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, performance, and behavioral incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Participate in school activities, staff meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Supervise students during non-classroom activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leadership to enhance the overall educational program.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to foster discipline and respect.

Required Skills

  • Strong command of the Kenyan Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability in effective classroom management and instructional techniques.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office, educational software).
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TSC (Teachers Service Commission) registration certificate.
  • At least 2 years of proven teaching experience at the primary level in Kenya.
  • Experience with integrating technology into classroom instruction.
  • Participation in extracurricular activities or clubs at previous schools.
  • Additional qualifications in special needs education or early childhood development.
