Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care to animal patients.
  • Perform thorough physical examinations, diagnose illnesses, and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Administer vaccinations, perform routine check-ups, and offer preventative health guidance.
  • Conduct surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, and other soft tissue surgeries, with precision and care.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., blood work, urinalysis, X-rays, ultrasound) to inform diagnoses.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnoses, prognoses, treatment options, and home care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with veterinary standards.
  • Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.
  • Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine through continuous education and professional development.
  • Handle emergency cases with calm professionalism and effective decision-making.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Manitoba.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a Veterinarian.
  • Proficiency in general surgery (soft tissue) and routine dental procedures.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with pet owners.
  • Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and a genuine love for animals.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in veterinary practice management software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced diagnostic imaging techniques (e.g., ultrasound).
  • Special interest or experience in a particular area of veterinary medicine (e.g., dermatology, internal medicine, exotics).
  • Experience mentoring junior veterinary staff or interns.
  • Bilingualism (English and French or other relevant languages for the community).
