Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care to animal patients.
- Perform thorough physical examinations, diagnose illnesses, and develop effective treatment plans.
- Administer vaccinations, perform routine check-ups, and offer preventative health guidance.
- Conduct surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, and other soft tissue surgeries, with precision and care.
- Interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., blood work, urinalysis, X-rays, ultrasound) to inform diagnoses.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnoses, prognoses, treatment options, and home care instructions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with veterinary standards.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine through continuous education and professional development.
- Handle emergency cases with calm professionalism and effective decision-making.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Manitoba.
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a Veterinarian.
- Proficiency in general surgery (soft tissue) and routine dental procedures.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with pet owners.
- Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and a genuine love for animals.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in veterinary practice management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced diagnostic imaging techniques (e.g., ultrasound).
- Special interest or experience in a particular area of veterinary medicine (e.g., dermatology, internal medicine, exotics).
- Experience mentoring junior veterinary staff or interns.
