Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare reagents, media, and other laboratory solutions accurately and efficiently.
  • Sterilise and maintain laboratory equipment, glassware, and work areas to strict hygiene standards.
  • Assist scientists and researchers with experimental setup and execution, following detailed protocols.
  • Manage and maintain laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies and ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance checks on laboratory instruments.
  • Dispose of chemical and biological waste safely and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory activities, preparations, and results.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Support general laboratory housekeeping and organisation.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 12 months experience in a laboratory or scientific support role.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures and best practices.
  • Excellent organisational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols precisely.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, solution preparation).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic IT literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HND or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science).
  • Experience with specific analytical instruments (e.g., pH meters, centrifuges).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
