Key Responsibilities
- Prepare reagents, media, and other laboratory solutions accurately and efficiently.
- Sterilise and maintain laboratory equipment, glassware, and work areas to strict hygiene standards.
- Assist scientists and researchers with experimental setup and execution, following detailed protocols.
- Manage and maintain laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies and ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance checks on laboratory instruments.
- Dispose of chemical and biological waste safely and in accordance with established guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory activities, preparations, and results.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Support general laboratory housekeeping and organisation.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 months experience in a laboratory or scientific support role.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures and best practices.
- Excellent organisational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols precisely.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, solution preparation).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic IT literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- HND or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science).
- Experience with specific analytical instruments (e.g., pH meters, centrifuges).
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
