Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Employee Relations Specialist to join our human resources team in Schaumburg, IL. This critical role is essential for fostering a positive, productive, and compliant work environment, acting as a trusted advisor to both employees and management. You will be instrumental in promoting fair and consistent application of company policies, resolving workplace conflicts, and ensuring adherence to all relevant labor laws and regulations.

As our Employee Relations Specialist, you will be the front-line expert in managing and resolving employee grievances, conducting thorough investigations, and providing strategic guidance on complex employee issues. Your ability to build rapport, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality will be paramount. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and objective investigations into complex employee relations issues, including harassment, discrimination, and policy violations.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and relevant employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA).
  • Mediate and resolve workplace conflicts and disputes, striving for constructive outcomes that align with company values and legal requirements.
  • Develop and implement proactive employee relations strategies, programs, and training to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Manage performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and terminations, ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance.
  • Analyze ER trends and metrics to identify root causes, recommend solutions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel as needed on complex employee relations matters.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in employee relations or HR generalist roles with a strong ER focus.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct objective and thorough investigations, interviews, and fact-finding processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proven conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Master's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-site, or multi-state organization.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and case management tools.
