Are you a certified Scuba Diving Instructor with an infectious passion for the underwater world and a knack for inspiring others? Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Seasonal Scuba Diving Instructor to join our client’s team based in Ardwick, Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your expertise, guide new adventurers, and contribute to a vibrant diving community during the peak season.
While Manchester is not coastal, the role involves comprehensive training in our state-of-the-art pool facilities, preparing students for open water certifications. You’ll also have the exciting opportunity to lead supervised trips to local inland dive sites (e.g., quarries) and potentially organize excursions to coastal locations, providing invaluable real-world experience for your students. As a Seasonal Scuba Diving Instructor, you will be instrumental in delivering a wide range of PADI/SSI/BSAC courses, from introductory Discover Scuba Diving experiences and Open Water certifications to Advanced, Rescue, and various specialty programs. Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality instruction, ensuring strict adherence to dive agency standards and safety protocols at all times. This includes conducting thorough pre-dive briefings, supervising in-water sessions, demonstrating skills effectively, and providing constructive feedback.
Beyond instruction, you’ll be involved in maintaining equipment, assisting with administrative tasks related to course completion, and actively promoting further diving education and activities. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team. Key Responsibilities
- Conducting scuba diving courses (e.g., Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, Specialties) following accredited agency standards (PADI, SSI, BSAC etc.).
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and certified divers during pool sessions, open water training, and guided dives.
- Delivering comprehensive theoretical and practical instruction in a clear, engaging, and professional manner.
- Performing thorough pre-dive briefings, overseeing in-water activities, and providing detailed post-dive feedback.
- Maintaining and inspecting diving equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition.
- Assisting with administrative tasks including student registration, certification processing, and record-keeping.
- Providing exceptional customer service and fostering a positive, supportive learning environment.
- Promoting advanced courses, specialty programs, and dive trips to enhance student engagement and progression.
- Working collaboratively with other instructors and staff to ensure smooth operation of diving activities.
Required Skills
- Valid and active Scuba Diving Instructor certification (PADI OWSI, SSI Instructor, BSAC Open Water Instructor, or equivalent).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (e.g., EFR Instructor or equivalent).
- Minimum of 1 year active teaching experience as a certified instructor.
- Proven ability to teach and supervise divers of varying experience levels.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating and inspiring students.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and adherence to dive agency standards.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, consistent with a seasonal role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional specialty instructor ratings (e.g., Dry Suit, Nitrox, Deep, Wreck).
- Experience working with diverse student groups and adapting teaching methods.
- Knowledge of local UK inland dive sites and conditions.
- Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle for transport to dive sites.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and maintain dive equipment.
