Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Clerk to join our dynamic team in the vibrant Exchange District of Winnipeg. This unique role is specifically designed to support our clientele who are foreign nationals, requiring a nuanced understanding of their specific needs and the legal processes they navigate in Canada. You will be instrumental in assisting our legal professionals with various administrative and clerical tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of cases involving immigration, work permits, permanent residency, and other legal matters that impact our international clients.
Your day-to-day will involve extensive document preparation, file management, scheduling, and direct communication with clients and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for maintaining highly organized case files, conducting preliminary research on legal precedents and regulations pertinent to international clients, and preparing correspondence. A crucial aspect of this role is your ability to handle sensitive information with utmost discretion and professionalism, while also demonstrating cultural sensitivity and understanding towards individuals from diverse backgrounds. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, format, and review legal documents, correspondence, and forms, specifically tailored for cases involving foreign nationals.
- Maintain and organize client files, both physical and electronic, ensuring all documentation related to international cases is accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, interviews, and meetings for legal professionals and clients, often coordinating across different time zones.
- Conduct preliminary research on relevant immigration laws, regulations, and judicial decisions to support legal arguments.
- Liaise with clients, government agencies (e.g., IRCC), and other legal entities with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, manage courier services, and handle general office administration tasks.
- Assist in the preparation of legal submissions and applications, ensuring all required supporting documents are included.
- Translate basic documents or assist in coordinating professional translation services where necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information and firm matters.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
