Key Responsibilities
- Operate Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and Transport Canada regulations under supervision.
- Assist in pre-flight planning, including site assessments, weather checks, and flight path programming.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks of drone equipment and payloads.
- Execute data collection missions to gather imagery, video, and other sensor data as per project requirements.
- Maintain accurate flight logs, equipment maintenance records, and project documentation.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting and minor maintenance of drone hardware and software.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and best practices during operations.
- Support data transfer, storage, and preliminary quality checks of collected aerial data.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance drone piloting and data acquisition skills.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and access to reliable transportation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software quickly
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of drones or remote-controlled aircraft
- Completion of a drone piloting course or any aviation-related training
- Familiarity with GIS software or mapping applications
- Basic understanding of photography or videography principles
- RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) Basic or Advanced Operations Certificate from Transport Canada (willingness to obtain is essential)
