Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced carpenters with various tasks, including measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and other materials.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Help with the installation of structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, frames, flooring, and cabinetry.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures on site.
  • Participate actively in all provided training sessions and demonstrate a proactive approach to learning.
  • Prepare work sites by cleaning obstacles, setting up scaffolding, and handling materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion and team efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop carpentry skills.
  • Basic understanding of safety practices on a construction site.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labour.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with basic hand tools or power tools (even in a hobbyist capacity).

  • Current driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • White Card (Construction Induction Card) for working on Australian construction sites.
