Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses following established protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepare reagents, media, and samples accurately and efficiently.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Record, document, and manage experimental data meticulously, maintaining accurate logbooks and digital records.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and reagents, assisting with ordering and stock rotation.
  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper waste disposal.
  • Assist research scientists with experimental setup and data collection.
  • Conduct quality control checks on experiments and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot minor technical issues and report more complex problems to senior staff.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory workspace.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting (academic or industrial).
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, sterile technique, solution preparation).
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and GLP/GMP principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data recording and experimental execution.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers).
  • Knowledge of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO 17025, pharmaceutical, clinical research).
